The Road to Opening RTI Membership
It is an honour to serve as President of Resource Therapy International. I don’t think I really knew what I was saying yes to when Gordon asked me. My heart and mind knew Resource Therapy offers such a clear pathway for parts therapists. I love sharing this with other mental health clinicians and clients.
Some of you may not know that alongside this work I am also a psychologist and Resource Therapy trainer, Imago couples therapist and business owner with my husband Chris.
A lot of roles to juggle as you can imagine.
To be completely honest, bringing RTI membership to life has been a much tougher road than many people would ever see from the outside.
Behind the official announcements, polished graphics and new website pages. There has been countless discussions. Lenghty committee meetings, administrative decisions, technical challenges and moments when progress felt frustratingly slow.
Resource Therapy International is a volunteer-led organisation. Every major step requires people across countries, professions and time zones to work together while also managing their own practices, training commitments, families and lives.
At times, I have had to hold the vision when the pathway forward was not yet clear.
Why continue?
Because Resource Therapy deserves a strong international home.
Professor Gordon Emmerson PhD created an extraordinary therapeutic model that has transformed the work of clinicians and the lives of clients around the world. Preserving that legacy – while building an ethical, inclusive and sustainable organisation for the future – matters deeply to me.
Opening RTI membership is therefore much more than launching another professional subscription.
It represents:
✓ international connection
✓ recognition of Resource Therapy training
✓ greater visibility for qualified practitioners
✓ stronger referral pathways
✓ an official record of our global community
✓ a foundation for the next generation of Resource Therapy
We are still building. Not everything is perfect, and there is more work ahead.
We are excited to announce – RTI Membership is now open.
That is a milestone worth acknowledging.
I am enormously grateful to the Executive Committee, our trainers, graduates and the international Resource Therapy community who have continued to believe in what we are creating.
Our dedicated team work on the executive committee toil away in the background – in service of creating a professional home for RT. I thank them and know you do also.
Sometimes leadership means celebrating the visible achievement.
And at times it means acknowledging the invisible work that made the achievement possible.
This is a little of both. With hugest gratitude to you all!
